Anderson County Handles Powdersville Permits

Powdersville is an unincorporated community, so there's no town building department. Pool permits go through Anderson County Building & Codes, which lists a swimming pool as needing both a building permit and an electrical permit. The county's adopted codes include the 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. We confirm the county for your exact address at the site visit.

The county also asks the property owner to sign a notarized Pool Fence Affidavit. In short, it says:

• The pool must be enclosed by a barrier with gates, or have a power safety cover that complies with ASTM F1346.
• Where a wall of the house serves as part of the barrier, doors opening directly to the pool need an alarm.
• Barriers, gates and alarms must be in place before the final inspection is requested.
• Nobody swims until Anderson County has approved all of the inspections.
